How to use it
- Open the Example workbook and compare the Source A and Source B Result columns. The example deliberately contains duplicate keys, a missing amount, a zero amount, a missing key and a literal asterisk in an ID.
- Save a copy of the Blank workbook. Set the positive amount tolerance in Reconciliation!B5; the supplied value is 0.01 USD.
- Paste values into A9:D508 in each source. Use the same record grain, currency and ID convention. Preserve leading zeroes by treating IDs as text. Do not paste over E:K.
The included guide continues with definitions, review steps and product-specific limits.
Before you choose
A unique key on each side with two numeric amounts is compared using the configured absolute tolerance. A zero amount is a valid value; a missing amount is not.
Match counts are source-row counts. The same pair appears once in each source; adding the two counts would double-count matches.
Format and scope
Designed for Excel. Blank and worked-example XLSX files, with no macros or external connections. Calculations and input scenarios were checked during authoring; native Microsoft Excel validation remains pending. Instructions are included as readable Markdown files.
This is a one-to-one key reconciliation, not fuzzy matching or a many-to-many allocation engine. Normalize inconsistent ID case and whitespace before use.
Amounts use one reporting currency (USD); no exchange-rate conversion is included. A negative tolerance is not a valid setting.
